Jeanette has enjoyed a varied career in music and the arts, beginning with a degree in Music from Royal Holloway, University of London. This led to a number of roles in arts management and public relations within prestigious arts organisations, both in the UK and Australia, including MCA Music Ltd, Westminster Abbey, Hyperion Records, ABC Classic FM, BBC Radio 3, and Sydney Opera House.
She worked as a freelance violinist for many years in London, and following the birth of her daughter, worked in Australia as a piano teacher. Back in the UK, as homemaker, Jeanette has continued life as a musician and pursued a career as a fine artist. She is currently a Committee Member and Trustee for her daughter’s independent school Parents’ Association…Over the years she has helped organise and run many of the events held during the school calendar and has enjoyed the aspect of meeting, working with and befriending many parents, staff, and students she perhaps wouldn’t have otherwise met.

Jeanette’s interest in education and dedication to working with young people has been evident throughout her career. In the Music Department of Westminster Abbey, she worked very closely alongside the Westminster Abbey Choir School, and as a violinist she performed many concerts with the Young Persons Concert Foundation, a charity dedicated to bringing music into the lives of young people.
Her piano teaching career in Tasmania began with The Music Tree, an organisation dedicated to encouraging music from an early age, and this led to her working as a visiting piano teacher for a number of schools in Northern Tasmania, giving lessons from her own studio, and presenting concerts in local venues for her students to perform in.
Jeanette thoroughly enjoys working with the team at Sutherland Education, helping young international students to feel happy, safe and nurtured during their time in the UK.
“When I was approached to join Sutherland Education it felt like an opportunity to combine all my previous work experience in educational roles with my enthusiasm for meeting new people. Having attended boarding school myself, I feel particularly empathetic to the challenges of living away from home at a young age, both towards the students, and as mother myself – an innate sense of care and consideration for their parents also.”
